On 29 November 2013, Lotus F1 team confirmed that Romain Grosjean would partner Pastor Maldonado with the team in 2014. On 24 January 2014, the team announced Eric Boullier's departure with immediate effect, with GĂ©rard Lopez replacing him as Lotus team principal.
On 5 July 2014, Lotus announced that they would be switching to Mercedes engines from the 2015 season.

After missing the first test of pre-season, Lotus finished the season in eighth position, with Romain Grosjean finishing eighth in both Spain and Monaco, while Pastor Maldonado remained scoreless until he picked up two points for ninth place in the United States.

  1. Missing the 1st test always pug Lotus on the back foot. Lots of PR from Lotus weekly but the writing was on the wall from February 2014. Let's hope 2015 is more prepared now that they should have a Mercedes Power Unit. Delays in 2015 will bring back memories of 2014.
